Birch Miller is the Office Managing Partner of Blakes’ Calgary office and Practice Group Leader of the Calgary Employment & Labour group. She practises in the areas of employment and privacy and cybersecurity law.

Birch advises on a broad range of employment matters, including recruiting, hiring, discipline, terminations, employment and labour standards, human rights, disability and benefits, and workplace testing. Her practice also includes drafting and reviewing employment and privacy documentation, such as agreements, severance packages, policies, and handbooks. Birch is experienced in litigation, tribunals and arbitration matters, including wrongful dismissal, provincial and federal privacy commission, employment and labour standards, and human rights commission matters.

In her privacy and cybersecurity practice, Birch supports organizations with compliance, policy development, training, investigations, and data breach response, and advises on risk management, data protection, and breach preparedness.

Birch has extensive transactional experience, regularly advising on the privacy, cybersecurity and labour and employment aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
